JUBILEE APPEAL - Additional Space

Official Opening of The Jubilee Extension - Phase 1 (Click Here)

The Appeal which has now been running for just over two years has raised a sufficient sum to complete the initial part of Phase 1 of the plan. This phase has provided the much needed additional exhibition space and a new workshop to carry the story of Army flying forward to the present day.

On 31st August 2007 Sir George Young cut the first turf to commence the works and the builders began the task of clearing, not only the rabbits, but the relevant depth of chalk. Gradually the shape began to emerge with the first steel erected on 8th October 2007. The extension has now been completed and the Curator can take possession.

However, more funds must be generated in order to set in place additional exhibits and dioramas to bring to life the courage and skills of those who have participated in the history of Army Aviation. We plan to make use of modern technology to enhance the participation of future visitors.

More funds must be generated in order to set in place additional exhibits.

Contemporaneously, the work of preparing an HLF bid for the construction of an even more desperately needed archive building has commenced. We hope to submit this in the Autumn of 2008 with a view, if we are successful, of commencing work in the Autumn of 2009 for completion in 2010. We shall undoubtedly have to raise further monies for this and so the Appeal continues. Whether you enterprise is a large corporation or you are a single person giving a coffee morning - please consider how you may help to preserve this remarkable history, the heritage of the generations to come.
