EDUCATION - KS2
The Museum of Army Flying's Primary Education Programme provides a unique learning opportunity outside the classroom for KS2 pupils.
Through the programme, pupils learn about life on the Home Front and use the collection as a focus for exploring and testing science and design technology principles.

The programme consists of interactive workshops linked to the QCA History unit: What Was It Like For Children in the Second World War?
Workshop sessions:
- 1940s House: explore that Evacuee Experience and how people lived during the 1940s.
Pupil/teacher led.
- Handling collection and role play: activities relating to the theme 'How did people protect themselves during WWII'. Education Officer led
- Propaganda trail: Literacy/History session using WWII posters displayed around the museum.

Each session lasts approximately 45mins.

Science and Design Technology
Cross curricular links can also be made to history through science and design and technology workshops, exploring the use of materials and forces through the design of:
- Air Raid Shelters
- Parachutes
- Gliders
- Helmets and Headwear

The above activities are designed for a class of KS2 pupils. Although the programme is based on a set timetable for the day, (9.30am to 14.30pm - depending on the distance you have to travel), a member of the education team will be happy to tailor your visit to meet your needs.
