Timetable: Under 5s Visit to the Museum of Army Flying.

The museum’s provision for KS1 is based around a visit with themed activities.

The timetable below is a suggestion only and can be tailored to suit your school’s individual requirements.

Arrive – group are taken through to education room where children can leave their coats and bags

10.00 – 10.20

Things that Fly

Children learn to recognise things that fly

Children are shown cards of objects and animals and have to call out whether they are things that can fly. The cards are then stuck to the wall in three categories: objects that fly, animals that fly and things that don't fly.

The children are asked if they can think of anything else that can fly and if they have ever are asked to name.

10.20 - 11.00

Activity Walk around the museum

The group are taken around the museum to see some of the large aeroplanes and helicopters on display. There is a chance to sit in a real helicopter, learn the airplane song and draw pictures or colour in.

Paper aeroplane making

Children make simple paper aeroplanes that they can decorate
